THE PROJECT MOB( Maria Oliva Bonaldo)
The project MOB ( Maria Oliva Bonaldo), the community of the Daughters of the Church in Mandya (India), is made possible thanks to the help AIFO of Bologna and the actual dedication of many local friends.
This project includes:
- The plan for prevention and treatment of leprosy
- The community-based rehabilitation (CBR)
- Promotion of women (Mahila Sanghas)
- Education and awareness about the disease of AIDS.
Activities of the group of women (Mahila Sanghas)
During the year 2007 MOB has established 14 new groups of women who join together to achieve various objectives of promoting human and social activities (Mahila Sanghas). So this has formed 48 Sanghas. has also MOB has tried to form 3 youth clubs.These groups are functionin positively and it is happening more and more that these Mahila Sanghas and youth groups are really of great help in the community and especially to the disabled.
Target of the Mahila Sanghas:
- Promote cooperation in the activities CBR
- Make women aware of their rights and able to fight for them when needed
- Make them aware of the importance of education
- Enable them to use and save money to educate their children
- Make them aware of their role in family and society.
Each Mahila Sanghas consists of various committees to facilitate the implementation of projects:
Committee for Health: Collaboration with the health institution to improve the health of the villagers;
Board of Education: Education of women especially in the field of literacy;
Panchayat Committee: for political education - civil, to solve the social problems that afflict women;
Committee on Economic Development: to encourage all members to make cash savings required each month to improve the economics of the family and the position of women in society;
Committee for environmental conditions for the cleaning of various areas of the villages and neighborhoods. It is planned to develop homes in the garden producing vegetables needed to maintain them and clean around;
Committee for Women's Development: Supervision of discrimination and harassment against women;
Committee for the unity and peace: the members of this group have learned that the union is strength and are unable to resolve any dispute between men and women.
The association M.O.B. Mahilodaya Okutta (combining groups of Mahila Shangas and MOB) is recognized by the government.
